Southern Brown Rice
Rice. If you’ve watched more than two of my TikiTok videos then it’s no secret that my family loves rice. White rice, red rice, greasy rice, and brown rice. We love all kinds of rice.
It is believed that rice originally made its way to the United States through the Port of Charleston during the late 1600s and remained the ‘King of Crops’ here until the Civil War. Rice thrived in the marshes of the low country and although only one type of rice remains to be grown here in South Carolina, the influence of this grain has remained for generations.
This Southern Brown Rice recipe is one of my favorite ways to eat rice and I think you’ll love this recipe as it adds deep, rich, buttery flavor and pairs perfectly with pork or chicken.
