Italian Stuffed Shells

Total Time: 40 minutes

Serves: 6

Ingredients:

  • 1 28 oz. jar of spaghetti sauce

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1/2 tbsp Italian seasoning

  • 1/4 medium onion chopped 

  • 1 small garlic clove, grated or minced

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt, more to taste

  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper, more to taste

  • 1/2 lb ground beef

  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella

  • 1/2 cup shredded parmesan

  • 1 12oz. box of large pasta shells

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 32 oz. container of ricotta cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella

  • ½ cup shredded parmesan

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

  2. Prepare shells according to package directions and set aside.

  3. Heat olive oil in a large sauté pan on medium heat.

  4. Sauté ground beef and Italian sausage in pan on medium heat with garlic, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning and chopped onion until browned.  

  5. Once meat is cooked, add jar of pasta sauce and simmer on medium low until meat sauce begins to bubble.  

  6. While sauce is simmering, in a medium bowl mix filling ingredients until combined. 

  7. Stuff each shell with filling mixture and place in a 9x13 baking dish.

  8. Pour meat sauce over shells and top with mozzarella and parmesan cheese.  

  9. Bake at 350 F or until the cheese is fully melted and lightly browned. 

  10. Enjoy with Italian Chopped Salad and Garlic Bread!
