Christmas Wreath Treats

Christmas is such a special time of year for my family. I am lucky enough to have a Mom (MawMaw) who believes in the importance of traditions. I vividly remember packing fruit boxes at church year after year during the holidays. They were filled with fruit, nuts and small Christmas gifts for elderly members of our church and community.

Nowadays each year we reserve a Saturday in December for Christmas baking. We spend hours baking and making Christmas candy & cookies.

After we are finished, we pack up little tins to deliver to friends, family, and community. This is a way to create Christmas traditions for my own children and to teach them the importance of serving others.

One of my favorite Christmas recipes is my Aunt Carolyn’s Christmas Wreath Treats. My Aunt Carolyn is my Grandmother’s first cousin, so while not technically my aunt, she is an Aunt to me.

There has never been a day that I have walked in her home and not felt welcome.  I have the best memories of making mud pies in her outdoor play kitchen with my cousins. I guess you could say my cooking career started in Aunt Carolyn’s play kitchen.

Even today, I recently asked my kids if they’d rather go to the park or to visit Aunt Carolyn and they quickly chimed in together, “Aunt Carolyn”!  This Christmas Wreath recipe is the perfect treat to take to your holiday party or send for your child’s class. Make extra though, it is hard to stop eating them while they are cooling.
