In the south, the word salad is used very loosely and nearly always includes mayonnaise. So this old timey finger food definitely qualifies as a salad. This dish has been served in school cafeterias and church potlucks for generations and you are either going to love it or hate it! Enjoy!

Ingredients:

1 15oz can Del Monte pear halves
½ cup Duke’s Mayonnaise
½ cup shredded sharp cheddar
Maraschino cherries

Instructions:

  1. Arrange pear halves on a serving platter. 

  2. Place a dollop or 1 tbsp of mayonnaise in the center of each pear half. 

  3. Sprinkle shredded cheddar on top of the dollop of mayonnaise.  

  4. Place one cherry on top of the cheese on each pear.

  5. Served chilled.
