Uncle Bunny’s Deep Fried Turkey
Eastern Wild Turkeys are plentiful all over our great state. In fact, The National Wild Turkey Federation Headquarters are located right here in South Carolina.
With a long history of turkey hunting locally, it’s no surprise to us that an estimated 88% of Americans will eat turkey on Thanksgiving.
My brother has been frying turkeys for our family for over 20 years and he has truly perfected his recipe. Whether you are frying your first turkey or your 20th turkey, this recipe is sure to be a hit.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 35 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes
Yield: Serves 10
Ingredients:
5 gallons peanut oil
1 10b turkey
2 tbsp Kinders Buttery Poultry Blend
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp pepper
Instructions:
Heat peanut oil in turkey fryer to 350 degrees F.
Rinse turkey, inside and out, let dry and drain.
Rub turkey all over with salt, pepper and Kinders’s Buttery Poultry Blend.
Allow the turkey to come to room temperature.
Slowly lower the turkey into hot oil.
Fry turkey for three minutes per pound or until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees.
Remove turkey from oil and drain on paper towels before carving and serving.
*Frying a turkey can be dangerous. Please take proper precautions and wear protective gear like protective glasses and oven mitts. Do not overfill the pot. Do not fry indoors, inside of your garage or carport. Turn off the flame while lowering the turkey into the fryer. Do not allow children or pets in the turkey frying area. Keep a fire extinguisher nearby.
